Ohad

אהד

Genesis 46:10 names him as a son of Shim'on (Simeon).

Gesenius insists - and he is very rarely wrong - that the name stems from the root Ahad (אהד) = "to join together". But surely the Yehudit root for "to join together" is Achad with a Chet (ח) and not Ahad with a Hey (ה); whence Echad = the number One, and Achdut = "unity" or "togetherness"?

His siblings were Yemu-El (ימואל), Yamin (ימין), Yachin (יכין), Tsocharחר) and Sha'ul (שאול), "the son of a woman of the Beney Kena'an".
